Digital Accessibility Statement

This digital accessibility statement applies to the website of the Municipality of Nassogne.

Digital accessibility aims to ensure that online content and services can be used by everyone, including people with disabilities. It applies to all digital media: websites, mobile apps, PDF documents and other digital formats.

By improving navigation, comprehension and interaction, accessibility benefits not only people with disabilities (visual, hearing, motor or cognitive), but also older people, those with temporary limitations, and all users.

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) set out the criteria that developers, designers and editorial teams must adhere to in order to ensure the website is accessible to people with disabilities. There are three levels of compliance: A, AA and AAA.

1. Our commitment

The website www.nassogne.be was created in collaboration with iMio, which, since its inception, has been actively committed to a process of continuous improvement in digital accessibility, in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/2102 (websites).

This directive requires local authorities entrusted with a public service mission to make their websites accessible by 23 September 2020.

2. Compliance status

Technical

iMio manages the technical aspects of the website. Its iA.SmartWeb tool was audited in October 2020 by Anysurfer in its Plone 4 version (see https://docs.imio.be/iasmartweb/siteweb_v4/accessibilite/index.html).

The recommendations made during this audit have been incorporated into the new version of iA.SmartWeb for Plone 6, available since March 2022, and have been enhanced with further improvements.

Developments to improve accessibility are regularly incorporated via iA.SmartWeb updates and are listed at https://docs.imio.be/iasmartweb/smartweb_v6/accessibilite/accessibilite.html

Furthermore, the tool has been designed to prioritise the creation of accessible content, whilst taking into account the practical realities faced by local authority staff (see details on the same page at https://docs.imio.be/iasmartweb/smartweb_v6/accessibilite/accessibilite.html).

Alongside the technical aspects, our website administrators have completed the content editing training and workshops offered by iMio.

These sessions emphasise the obligation for a public website to be accessible, raise awareness of accessibility by explaining what it is and what it entails, and train staff in creating accessible content.

Our website administrator also regularly consults the online documentation on accessibility, which iMio updates with every improvement to the tool.

Our administrator is therefore fully aware of the importance of making the entire website accessible, including images, PDFs and tables.

The latest simplified digital accessibility audit report is dated 15 December 2023 and focused solely on the technical aspects of iA.SmartWeb. It was carried out by the organisation Passe-muraille, which also commended iMio’s commitment and actions in this area.

Editorial

The accessibility of the website’s content is the responsibility of the Municipality of Nassogne.

3. Improvement Plan

The Municipality of Nassogne is doing its utmost to ensure that its entire website is accessible to all. However, certain elements are not yet fully compliant.

Not all scanned PDF documents posted online are currently accessible. The Municipality of Nassogne is aware of this and is working to bring them into compliance gradually.

A simplified digital accessibility audit is being considered in order to establish precisely our compliance status and identify the priority issues that need to be addressed.

The Municipality of Nassogne is committed to a process of continuous improvement of its website’s accessibility, with a view to gradually moving towards enhanced compliance.

Our aim is to improve the accessibility of our website so that it becomes fully inclusive.

This statement was prepared on 1 August 2025 by Anais Digital-Jems Belgium based on information and documentation provided by iMio. We have completed the ‘editorial compliance’ section, as well as points 3, 5 and 7.
